How to Figure Out the Rotation Direction of the Centrifugal Fan Damper

The function of the damper is a pre-rotatation of the air to make sure the airflow into the impeller more smoothly.

The wind will directly impact blades when a left-rotated damper is installed on a right-rotated fan, which is mainly performed as overload and strong vibration.

The current will rise straight when the damper is in status of full-open,and even in more severe cases, the motor will burn out.

Here we’ll show you how to figure out the rotation direction of the damper.

Let’s take a look at this horizontal damper.

Primarily we need to find the support rod of the damper as the base point,(or take the air-in direction),then check the rotation direction of the linkage that handle from full-closeed to full-opened.

Clockwise is right rotation, counterclockwise is left rotation.

Now let’s make it clear that the rotation direction when the damper was intalled on the fan.

Firstly from the motor side and look at the direction of the handle from full-closeed to full-opened.

Generally we will mark the direction of the switch to help you to distinguish.Clockwise is right rotation, counterclockwise is left rotation.

The above information we shared was a simple way to distinguish the rotation direction of the petal-type damper.

The regular types of the damper are single-plate,three-plate and louver damper. The single-plate and three-plate are easily installed on the fan according to the air-in direction because there is no need to figure out any rotating direction.

Please contact our technicians for recommends before you order the damper to fit your centrifugal fan.We will choose better one of these different types according to your requirements.
